It pained me to write this message and I wish I never had to write this message.

Our sweet and dearest CC of Suestreehouse had passed away peacefully on 5th September 2010. She is the best and she never failed to share her favourite and treasured patterns with anyone who visited this blog and her own personal blog.

Even though we never met, we chatted daily online and only recently she is too tired to chat online daily. It is although CC is living next door to me. We shared many nice memories and secrets and she loved to make me laugh with her funny jokes. She is my inspiration and taught me many things about sewing and stories about vintage books of sewing, crochet, etc. There are so many nice things about CC, I could write thousand of lines. But I am sure anyone who visited this blog will already know of the good things and stuff that CC was and shared.

Suestreehouse will never be the same. Dosew and myself cannot continued dancing in treehouse anymore without CC. She will be sadly missed and we will missed her joyous laughter and jokes. There will be an empty seat in treehouse during teatime.

I am like a lost sheep without CC there to guide me. CC, although you have taken the early bus, your memories live on in your personal blog and in Suestreehouse through your works and your precious treasures which you shared with all. I love you and missed you so terribly, CC.

Cici has been in and out of the hospital for multiple ailments the last few months. She was a very tough lady and fought till the end, but we lost her on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at 7:07pm from respiratory failure. She was on DNR, so no actions were taken to put her on life support as she wouldn't want that. She always talked about the ladies she shared patterns and ideas with here and was very proud of her blog and very proud of all of her friends here. I just wanted to thank each and every one of you that helped make my mom's life even fuller.

Pearl Necklace using tiger tail wire

I made a matching pearl necklace with crystal beads to match my memory wire bracelet which I made in an earlier post.

I used only one strand of tiger tail wire for the necklace.

Batik Bag

Just to share something very cute that I bought from Indonesia. These bags are made from batiks and they can be folded into rectangles.

Batik is a type of cloth that traditionally uses a manual wax-resist dyeing technique. They can be found in Indonesia , Malaysia and Singapore.

Once you removed the straps of the rectangles, they opened into a bag.

I am sure many of you can figure out how to sew similar bags like these.

I hope to clarify that we have no objections to anyone linking our blog to theirs but do it the correct way. We like to thank you to those who link us the correct way and our visitors for showing great interests in our blog and especially thank you to our sweet CC for kindly sharing all her patterns and works.

Friendstitch's Blog wasn't like this before we discovered it. I have taken print shot of what they did earlier. They covered our blog header photo and blog name (same for the other blogs that they linked). So that each time, someone click on the link, it opened with their blog name above our post but without our header photo and blog name. They made it like the page belongs to them. I still keep the printshot as evidence.

But I guess when we threatened to take legal action, they have since removed some kind of block/unblock button where now the header photo and blog name is shown. We have no reason to be angry with them if they link us the correct way.

We dont mind anyone link us but dont block our header photo and blog name.

We are fine and will be back to blogging soon.

As to those who requested for patterns from CC, I am sorry that you have to wait a little longer as our sweet CC is in hospital but she is fine and will be out soon.

Whole Pages of Our Blog Was Taken Without Permission

Memory Wire Bracelet

Today, I went to the crafts shop to get some beads. Wanted to buy a roll of memory wire but I saw these already cut out memory wire for bracelets. So I just purchased one packet which had a dozen in it and costs only S$2.

As soon as I reach home, I excitely thread some beads and crystals into the memory wire bracelet. One end of the wire is already closed so the beads wont fall out.

I put one crystal bead, one small bead,one crystal bead, one big pearl,one crystal bead, one small bead and followed by another crystal bead. Then I repeated the whole process till I reached almost to the end of the memory wire braclet. Then I used my plier to close the end of the wire by making a loop so that the beads wont fall out.

I placed a black velvet cloth over my hand so that the beads can be seen clearly.

I don't know if anyone can use this for Redwork, Blackwork..or regular embroidery.
.is it too busy?? I'm sorry it's a bit crooked..not quite sure why I would not have done this over..:(, alas, this is the only one I have. If someone can use it, or will use it..then it makes me very happy.I need to get back to my handwork........if I can ever ger over,finished and done with a fractured pelvis and the rippling effects it has left, maybe I can concentrate a bit more. Meanwhile, I'm having ever so much fun, going through boxes of patterns....and posting them for all of us to share and use.

An American Sampler .... A 1995 Quilt Pattern Calendar

This All American Sampler is in actuality a 1995 Quilt Pattern Calendar.When I found the calendar I had no idea what I was going to do with it,and still don't.
But I know there might be quilters out there that might like it, so I bought it.
and now it needs a home.So..if you're a quilter,or want to try your hand..I'm giving it away. In the back is a page of General Instructions, a Stitch Glossary,
Applique Instructions,.......and then begins the list of quilt patterns and their names...They are as follows:

Beads Necklace using Tiger Tail Wires

I always love purple and today I decided to make a necklace using tiger tail wire with some purple beads.

Measure the tiger tail wire round your neck to get the length you want and cut it. As I am making two strands of wire, I double the length round my neck.

I fold the wire into half and seep the folded wire into a crimp bead (use a plier to squeeze the crimp bead) and then I seep them into a clam shell (any designs). Closed tight the clam shell.

Clam shell, jump ring, clasp.

I then joined the clam shell (with the tiger tail hooked to it), jump ring and clasp.

I then use both the wires to string into one seed bead, then I use one part of the wire to string three purple beads and the other wire I string one white bead. Then I used both the wires to string another seed bead.

Repeat the same pattern till almost to the end of the wires.

To finish off the necklace, I string both wires into the clam shell and the crimp bead (use the plier to squeeze tight the crimp bead). Then I joined the end of the crimp cover to another jump ring.

Next I tried to loop the excess tiger tail wire back into the crimp cover and hide the excess into other beads. Cut any loose end of the wire.

The final product and a very satisifed me. :) I hope the above instructions are very clear to you all.

Beth Found the Plate Pattern

There are so many wonderful bloggers out there and I feel so blessed when anyone comes to visit and leaves a comment or emails me. It's such great fun to meet and visit with new visitors...and to check on the places I follow to see what everyone has been up to.

Well, as luck would have it, Beth saw the pictures of the plates.........and she went searching as well. Annnddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!! She found what I couldn't. As I said, I had searched and searched,with no luck..and then a great detective came to the rescue.

Hugggggs Beth..if I could happy dance with no pain,I could..but I'll have to save the happy dance for awhile.

The pattern is called Renaissance Brown by English Ironstone. The description is as follows.."Brown border,flowers,birds and scenes".Searching is a bit difficult, because there are other Renaissance patterns out there,by different makers, different companies. I'll keep looking about to see if I can find a price on them and anything else that I can find. But the thing is, I love them..no matter how expensive or inexpensive they are. I just love the brown and the pattern and will be on the lookout for more. Who knows...maybe someday..I'll find some pink transferware. That's I think my favorite,,,ummmmmmm,

well maybe the brown is my favorite.

Brown Transfer Ware????? England, English, Ironstone Markings

I'm just now getting round to taking pictures of finds from 3 thrift shopping trips ago. These dishes are quickly helping me to sigh,sob and quit looking. However..not being a quitter..I'm just getting a bit tightly strung....
The only markings stamped down into the back are : England Ironstone English
No other markings that I can see.
It was a good thrifting trip when I found these six little plates that I'm calling Brown Transferware. I loved these sweet little plates, and looked all over for more,
I like ironstone and I like this sweet pattern. There was no more of it to be found,
but all was not lost. I found a baby or mini cloche and a glass cheese dome that can be used as a cloche with a gorgeous plate; two Pyrex bowls, one tiny green casserole and one that has most of the gold color almost removed,. I will show those and the rest of the treasures I found that day.
I surely would appreciate if anyone has a clue about this pattern. Is it transfer ware? I like it,whether it is or not..I would just like to know.
By the way.. I paid 50 cents for each little plate. Now to find more..

Pfaltzgraff Butter Dish.......Does Anyone Know the Name of the Pattern

I have a mystery pattern here..at least a mystery to me. The maker of this sweet butter dish is on the back.. but there is no name or number. I have spent most of the morning searching.. and have come across two maybes. One is Aura Pink, the other is Juniper. The colors on those two patterns,(the ones I've found) seem kinda faded in color....the colors on mine are vivid and fresh..and yet the pictures I just took,..I don't think they show the colors well.
The top of the butter dish I have...is a cream color with a banding of a dark yellowish/greenish mix going into a narrow band of brown..and the patterns carries over on the inside. The bottom has a band of blue. The colors sound a bit strange..
but somehow they work together. The bottom of the butter dish is marked with their
mark in a circle and a copyright circle to the right..under that is Pfaltzgraff
Copyright USA . That's all there is..no number anywhere...
Sooooo, for all you collectors and thrifters out there, do you know what this pattern is??? I would love to know. I paid $1.50 for it, did I do good or bad? I kinda like it, I may keep and use it for myself..

Trying To Re-Do Labels

I was left a most interesting comment by Kris of Freebies for Crafters....with a really great suggestion. Why I had not thought of it,I don't know.Her suggestion was that...on the labels of the embroidery patterns, I add what it is..as in : birds,owls,flowers...etc. Si, I'm going back through..and re-labeling the embroidery patterns. It may take awhile..*sighs and hits self gently in head for not having done this in the beginning.

Baby Animals .... Redwork or BlueWork Hand Embroidery

I think these are the sweetest little patterns...and I can envision them done so many ways. They would be adorable embroidered on quilt blocks for a crib quilt, a huggy quilt or a napper quilt; they would be sweet embroidered on bibs, little clothes, tiny play aprons...so many sweet things. They would be so sweet in all red or all blue thread, and equally as sweet done in soft shades of color.
This will enlarge when clicked, simply run a copy off,and then use your tracing paper and a red transfer pencil to trace off the pattern. Turn the pattern with the traced lines face down on the fabric..and iron on. It's all ready to embroidery.
I hope you enjoy these sweet patterns and know a little one that would enjoy these baby animals.. Happy embroidering..

Do's Latest Project ..... Little Purses

Are these not the most adorable little bags. I'm not sure when she found time to do these,since she's also doing another quilt,but I'm so happy she did. I think these are just the cuteest little bags ever..and these are her little patterns.
They're embroidered with the sweetest little animals..they're all lined, and she's added a cell phone pocket for the young ladies, for all we all know..ladies don't move without their cell phone. (You know,I think one grandaughter has hers actually attached to the side of her head.)
I just couldn't wait to show these.. they're just the sweetest.

This was a hand-out Easter leaflet from Red Heart Super Saver yarns. I'm not sure of the year published,but I know I've had it for quite awhile.
Red Heart yarn is just the very best..it's what I use for almost everything I crochet. I'm not sure how many afghans I've made with the Red Heart yarn...probably thirty something..and they're all holding up wonderfully well,still looking like new. I just love their yarn.

Flower Gingham Stitch Pattern in Black and White

This is a portion of an apron I have..I think this is one of the prettiest gingham stitch/chicken scratch patterns..it would be sweet on anything.I recently found a wonderful older piece of chicken scratch embroidery,that the owner had placed in a hoop. This is the second hoop type piece I've found.... seems is it's gingham stitch or chicken scratch and I see it...then I just must have it.
To get this pattern, simply click on the picture to enlarge and x the pattern off,square by square on a piece of graph paper..the larger grid. It's not hard..just a bit time consuming,but it's worth it for the pattern.

Flowers In a Pitcher to Embroidery

I hope everyone is able to use and enjoy these sweet embroidery patterns. Click on the picture to enlarge and to run off a copy. Then take your iron on transfer pencil ( mine is a red Dritz pencil,found at JoAnns Fabrics )
and a sheet of tracing paper..lay over the run off image,and trace with the transfer pencil. Then you can just lay the traced pattern,with the red pencil lines face down..and iron the transfer on....Embroidery and enjoy.

Sweet things to embroidery..from Easter bonnets to strawberries..
Just run off a copy of the pattern, and with an iron on transfer marking pen, trace over the image..next,lay the image face down on your project and iron on. I use tracing paper and a red Dritz transfer marking pencil..and it works wonderfully well. Good luck with your projects..

Today,I feel like a very fortunate woman, Though I'm not rich with money,now will I ever be,I am rich in the love of family and friends.
All around us, there has been a sort of a bug going round..a sore throat,a cough and a general feeling of oh my gosh!!!!!,if only I could breath well. It's a miserable bug...
now,having said that..sick or not,I had a wonderful happening this afternoon. A friend had gone to an estate sale??? house sale??? a whatever the heck it was, it took place inside a rather large house with stuff piled everywhere..and being ever alert..she said she saw some stacks of fabrics,some sewing things..some patterns stacks of boxes,ribbons..etc.Obviously there had been a sewer in the household and they were getting rid of all her stuff. In any case,the lady running the sale allowed my friend to make herself a little stack of things she wanted..and when she was almost through with what she wanted and going through boxes of craft things..she opened one large box..and there before was a sort of Heaven to me.. she collects vintage sewing things and patterns, I also collect vintage sewing things,apron patterns..etc, I also collect vintage embroidery and craft transfer patterns..and she was sweet enough to grab that box for me..pay for all her things, and bring that sweet box straight to me. If I had not been feeling so miserable,I would have hugged her and happy danced..but you know me..in my heart I happy danced.
I'm not sure what the patterns are supposed to be for,..but they will be great for embroidery. Just run a copy off,trace the pattern with your trusty red Dritz transfer pen, and you're good to go with the pattern. After you have traced the pattern with the red transfer pen,lay the image face down of the linen, pillowcase,apron..whatever you're going to embroidery,iron the transfer on...and embroidery away..I hope you have fun with the patterns, I know I'm going to. There's enough embroidery and craft things to keep us all busy for awhile.
p.s. At the moment,while trying to survive this virus misery and the cold weather, I have tried to busy myself a bit with some quiet time embroidery. I have pillowcases with transfers of Sunbonnet Sue..and some of Raggedy Ann. I'm having fun working on Ann for awhile ,I normally do all embroidery with Sue,but it's time for new things for awhile....

Sweet Sunbonnet Sue with Her Valentine

This is part of a series of little quilt blocks that was put out by Stitch and Sew magazine in 1988. When I began to get interested in applique again,and was going though all my patterns,I came across the magazine with all the sweet Sues in it. There are 12 Sue's,each one a different month. I thought this would be so sweet for Valentines day... and I hope it's okay to post this. If not,I will take it away immediately.

Tonight was the name drawing of the vintage red organdy half apron. After I had spent a good part of the day,both working and looking at Pink Saturday posts,...................

I set myself in with a notebook, a pen, a Pepsi and started to work on the participants to be added to the "drawing" basket. I hadn't realized there was so many sweet ladies,and I want to thank everyone for allowing me to have so much fun. Not only did I reread sweet comments,but I wrote names as I went along,,,and I wrote,and I wrote, then I cut them all apart..and started folding. I hadn't realized that I would pause and think of each lady as I went along, but I did...and I wanted to thank everyone that has ever taken the time to leave me a comment. What an honor,that someone likes you enough to leave a few sweet words..they really make my day so happy.

Then,after all the names were folded and in the basket, I gathered 1 husband,1 pink flying pig and 1 mouse..and we set about the setting up of the picture taking. Suri and Oscar was so excited..and my husband was warned to get it together and to get in the act. At that I smiled. :). So out cam a name..drum roll please ........rollllllllllllllllllllllllllll and the winner of the apron is............

Sherry of Alabama... A Happy Valentine. I think she's kinda new in Pink Saturday,and I wanted to thank her for her comments. And again, I thank you all. This has been more fun than 1 Texas woman should be allowed to have. And I want to have another giveaway..so I will let my fingers rest,after writing down all those names, and I will do another. And I already have that very something in mind..Suri and Oscar have promised not to whisper the secret out loud, well, not very loud anyway...So in 2 weeks, I will be ready again. Apron Give-Away

Red Organdy Lined Apron with Scallops

Be sure and start to leave a comment..starting now and going till the end of next Pink Saturday..I will be having an apron give-away. This is my first ever give-away, and I'm hoping lots join in. It's a beautiful organdy apron..lined with another layer of crisp organdy..and the bottom on beautifully scalloped slanting upward. towards the ties. The ties are long enough for a sweet tie in the back..and just in time for Valentines' Day..it's a beautiful shade of red. I Want to......

Well,.....now that the holidays are over...the decorations are down, I find myself exhausted. With my work at the store, some family illness..it's taken a toll on me..However, I don't stay down for long. I know I will get rested and my schedule will get revamped..and I will get recharged.
One of the things that keeps me going..is this new love of blogging. When I first started,I was so scared to actually put words, thought out there for everyone to see......but amazingly,when I did, people responded in such a sweet way. It was a wonderful feeling..I love to share and have others share with me.
I haven't made any resolutions this year..they always seem doomed to failure anyway..but I have set some goals for myself. There is so much I want to do,so many more crafts that I want to learn. Anyway, to that effect, I've made lists for myself..and then the list got londer and longer..and I began to wonder, are there enough hours in the day?? But I think there will be.

Some of the Things I Want to Do
1. Finish my small crazy quilt..embroidery and all
2..Continue my blocks of Sunbonnet Sue
3. Start the redwork embroidery blocks of Baby Sunbonnet Sue
4. Start my log cabin quilt top in shades of pinks, cremes, and sage greens
5. Continue on with embroidering pillowcases I've already made the pattern on
6. Do my embroidered dish towels and finish them with the vintage lace
7. Do my crocheted baskets on the bath towels and add the vintage lace
8. I want to learn to do the beautiful tags that people are making
9. To finish my birdhouses and shadowboxes with tole painting
10. Take stock of all my craft supplies...organize them and re do my craft area
11. Seriously think about and check into a booth in my favorite antique shop
12. Re-organize my store so I will have a fairly large area for my selling area..a booth in my own store,so to speak
13. To go through and list all my craft supplies,so that I don't repeat buying the same thing over and over
14. Make list of the vintage books and patterns that I have....
15. Make list of all my cookbooks..those that I will part with and those that I won't
16. To get my sewing machine out..and get ready to do some serious sewing. I have vintage apron patterns that have already been used, so I won't have a problem using them.I enjoy sewing and I love aprons, so it's a win win thing.
17. To chosse some soft,soft snuggly yarn..enough to do another crocheted afghan. I so love to crochet and it's so relaxing..I need to take more time to crochet. And I also want to make some scarves..

Not on that list, but at the top if it was, is the need for a way to store lace..both new and vintage. Just before Christmas, whilst out thrifting..I stumbled/tripped over a large bag sticking somewhat out in the aisle. I leaned down to move it back out of the way..and ta da !!!!!!!!, it was a large bag..no a huge one..ummm, it was the most ganormeous bag I have ever seen....and it was filled with lace. Lace of every kind,style,small,large..lace to put ribbon through..ruffled, eylet..new,older and vintage.. It was so stuffed with lace,I had trouble picking it up,taking it to the checkout and handing them the five dollars. A very kind gentleman helped me to my Explorer with the bag..and I went back to shop more. Now that I have the lace...great grief, I am trying to think of ways to store it. There is some of the most gorgeous lace in there and some that is "heavier" and more ornate. It's all just lace heaven. Now,if I could only find buttons like that.

Do you see the problem running through here.. So much to do, and not enough time. So, I need to learn to budget my time and use it wisely. I intend to do as much as possible....

I wanted to take time to thank all my visitors that come..the ones that leave a comment, well,you make my day so happy. And the ones that don't choose to leave a comment..you're welcome and cared for as well.
I treasure and value each visitor the little treehouse gets..and I hope in the coming year,I can make it better. I have more patterns in the drawing stages..and some in the working stages..embroidery patterns as well. Each crafter that comes by is cherished and I hope you will visit often and I would specially love it if you became a follower. Chocolate Kiss Rose

You will need:
a bag of Hershey's Kisses
Red,Pink or Yellow plastic or cello wrap
double sided sticky tape
green tape(floral tape)
green pipe cleaners
green tissue paper

The little rose bud is made by using the sticky tape, and taping 2 kisses together, end to end.
Cut a 5" square of the colored plastic wrap, and drape it over the point of the top kiss..... gather the edges,twisting into a tail at the point of the bottom kiss.
Twist the top of a green pipe cleaner around the tail to form a stem.
Add leaves by twisting the pipe cleaner once around the center of a green strip of tissue.
Cut each end of the tissue paper strip so that the tissue paper resembles rose leaves.
Repeat all the above several times to make your bouquet of chocolate roses..

Tip For Working With Beads

For those that already work with beads..you may already know this tip. However, quite by accident, I discovered an easier way than a bead tray. While working on a felt project and using clear beads, I spilled some of the beads onto a felt piece. I just used the beads off the felt,rather than trying to move them further...and the beads are so easy to pick up with my needle. I may never use a bead tray again... I just had to share this quick tip..in case someone might not know..

There's A Mouse In The House

What you will need:
pink felt for ears
Hershey's Kisses
wiggly eyes
small pieces of ribbon
double sided sticky tape
a small bit of red yarn or yarn "fuzz" for nose
small amount of glue

Cut out the tiny ears from pink felt...
Remove the little "tails" from the kisses
With the double stick tape, add the ears and join the two sides together..
add a pair of eyes with a dab of glue..even better are the self stick eyes, if you can find them
Either glue little tail or, or using a curly ribbon, slide the little tail under the foil
Now, add a bit of red yarn or yarn "fuzz" on as a nose..
Now..
Watch him hang about.. :).
He can either sit about or hang about..he can be hung from the tree by a ribbon or clear thread.

A Tree for Christmas

Materials:
You will need seven skeins of 4-ply worsted weight yard (3.5 ounce skeins)Size K crochet hook
one 15" long dowel rod that's 3/8" diameter
plywood base..6" square
a drill with 3/8' bit, hot glue gun and sticks of glue
different colored buttons

*Note: There are eight ruffeled circles altogether...complete the instructions for the bottom circle first, then repeat the instructions for the remaining circles for the amount of rows needed. The top and last circle has it's separate set of instructions.

Bottom Circle:
Rnd 1:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring
Rnd 2:
Ch 3, dc in ring 11 times, (ch 3 counts as first dc-12 dc's altogether.) Join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 3:
Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, 3 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 4:
Repeat rnd 3.
Rnd 5:
Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around, join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 6:
Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 7 through 10
Repeat round 6..tie off.

* 2nd Circle..... ten rounds

Finishing:
In center of plywood square, drill a hole for the 3/8" dowel. Holding dowel straight, glue bottom of dowel in this center hole.
Beginning with bottom circle, slide each crocheted circle over the dowel rod. Place the last circle on the top end of the dowel. Arrange ruffeled circles and sew on buttons for decorations..and add a sweet bow on top.
Credit goes to an old magazine...the partial picture and the instructions are all I have. Whoever originally made up this sweet little tree is very talented..

I may do one little tree in creme colored yarn..and add some of the new sweet snow glitter..and add either red or pink buttons..and a sweet plaid bow on top. I think it would be really pretty..

Ribbon Roses How To

It's terribly hard for me to explain how to do a ribbon rose..how, if they're sitting near me,I can show them in no time. "Fan" Stitch Afghan

For the afghan which measures approximately 44"x60"
Materials"
Worsted weight yarn..approximately 49 ounces
Crochet Hook size P (10.00mm) or size needed for guage
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Guage:
Working with double strand one arc = 2 3/4".
If you need to, change hook size to obtain the correct guage
** Note:
Entire afghan is worked holding 2 strands of yarn together
Chain 98 loosely
Row 1:
Sc in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, *ch 3, skip 3 chs, sc in next 3 chs, repeat from *14 times more, ch 3, skip 3 chs, sc in last 2 chs, 16 ch 3 spaces.
Row 2:
Ch 1, turn, sc in second sc, *5 dc in ch 3 space, sk next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * all across.
Row 3:
Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, sc in next 3 dc, *ch 3, skip next 3 stitches, sc in next 3 dc, repeat from *
to last 2 stitches, ch 2, sc in last stitch.
Row 4:
Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in ch 2 space *skip next sc, sc in next sc, 5 dc in in ch 3 space, reapeat from * 14 times more, skip next sc, sc in next sc, 3 dc in ch 3 space.
Row 5:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 dc, *ch 3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next 3 dc. repeat from * 14 times more, ch 3,
sc in last dc, sc in top of beginning ch.

Repeat rows 2-5 for pattern until afghan measures approximately 60", ending by working row 5, finish off.

Finishing : Make Tassels, attach 3 tassels in each ch 3 space along both ends. Weave all yarn ends in... To make tassels:

Cut a piece of cardboard 8" square. Wind yarn loosly and evenly around cardboard. When cardboard if filled, cut yarn across one end, repeat as needed. With wrong sides of afghan facing and using a crochet hook, draw folded ends through space or stitch specified in instructions, forming a loop; pull loose ends through loop and draw knot up tightly.
Continue until all tassels have been attached. Lay afghan on flat surface and trim ends evenly.

Cross Stitch Towel

You will need:
small amount yellow paint for little star
beads, red seed beads
button..a small wooden star one
embroidery thread and needle
kitchen towel that has textured squares

Paint the button yelloe and let it dry. Cross stitch over the textured squares of towel in a triangle Christmas tree like pattern, skipping over every other row, using the embroidery thread with 6 strands of thread. Put a seed bead in center of each cross stitch on tree. Sew the button star to top of tree.

Dishcloth Pillow

You will need:
2 dishcloths
Grommets and a grommet tool..(you will need 4 grommets)
a small pillow
ribbon that's 1 1/2" wide

Put 1 dishcloth over each side of pillow. Pinch the dishcloths together at center sides and with the grommet tool, attach the grommet. Thread ribbon through each grommet and tie into a bow or knot.

Christmas Fabric Wreath

You will need:
Christmas fabric.. a 14" x 45" piece
Christmas print craft ribbon...1 1/2 yards of 3" wide ribbon
Green yard
fiberfill
Sewing supplies for sewing

To make the wreath,have right sides facing..fold fabric in half and pin. Machine stitch 5/8" seam along edge, and make sure to leave ends open. Turn righ side out.
Stuff to a kind of medium firmness. Fill stuffing close to the ends. Bend the stuffed tube into wreath shape, and tucking one end into the other. Line uo the seams and tuck under 1/2" of fabric on the overlapping edge. Pin all around and slip stitch seam.
To form the puffs, firmly pin one end of yarn at the seam and wrap the other end around the wreath. Continue wrapping the yarn around leaving about 4" spaces between yarn spirals. Pull year tightly to puff after each wind. Try to keep the puffs as even as you can.
Continue around wreath, returning to seam. Tie ends of yarn together firmly; cut off excess. Go back and try to distribute yarn and fabric between puffs.
Wrap ribbon around wreath at seam, glue to hold. Tie the remaning ribbon into a bow and glue to the wreath. Be sure and attach a hanger at the top.
Decorate any way you choose...

Bow Making Hints

I've saved these bow making tips from one of the handouts at one of the craft stores, and thought I would post it in case anyone needed bow making tips. ( I can use tips as well). There seems to be only 2 different kinds of bows that I can make and a couple ribbon roses that are fairly easy. Sure hope these will be of use to someone.. Just click on to enlarge.

Angel Bag Pin

For each bag and label...you will need
paper bag
creme-colored heavy paper
spring-type clothespin
raffia... cut several pieces into 1 yard lengths
colored pencils and a black felt tip marker
tracing paper and transfer paper
glue sticks and hot glue
Run the pattern off..and trace the pattern onto tracing paper. Use the transfer paper to transfer the design off to the creme colored paper. Using the colored pencils to color angels, color the angel. Use the black marker to draw over transferred lines. Cut the angel out..
Center the clothespin on the back of the angel with the clip part at the bottom..glue that into place. Tie the raffia lengths into a bow. Glue the center of bow inside top of clothespin above the spring. Put your gift into the brown paper bag...fold the top of bag to the front and clip little angel clothespin to the top of the bag.

Cowboy Stocking

I thought this a really cute pattern..a kind of different one, and since Christmas will soon be here, we all need to get busy. Or I do anyway. I seem to move slower for some reason..
I believe I will be making this one in felt..or maybe a bandana fabric would be cute... perhaps a denium. Somewhere in my stash of fabric (the one that's actually packed away), I have some blue denium fabric. That would be really cute with that red hot chili pepper...
Or, how about a really frilly ladies cowboy boot? One of satin perhaps, or a pretty velvet???
And instead of a chili pepper, have a few pearls and pretties tucked here and there... Yes,I think I would like that one as well.

Fabric Casserole Carrier

Materials:

Two 15 1/2" x 19 1/2" pieces of fabric
Thread to match
Two 15 1/2 x 19 1/2 ' pieces batting
Four 7/8" jingle bells
Four 12" lengths of 1/4" ribbon

1.
Place batting pieces together.
Put fabric pieces right sides together on top of the batting pieces. Leave an opening for turning...Use a 1/2" seam allowance and stitch all the layers together. Clip the corners diagonally; turn right side out and press. Sew the opening closed by hand.
2.
Stitch 3" from each end of carrier.
3.
Fold the fabric up along stitched lines, matching lines to form each corner. Tack sides together at each corner.
4.
Thread 1 ribbon length through eye of each jingle bell. Tie eac ribbon length into a bow; trim the ends. Tack 1 bow and jingle bell at each corner...

Note: This can also be made with a pretty quilted placemat. I have some shabby rose quilted placemats that would be gorgeous done up like this.

Farm Girls Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah On Their Great Adventure .... November Block of the Month

Here we have our gils, Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah on another great adventure....
They have decided to do a Thanksgiving redo, in their boat aptly named the H.M.S. Mayflower. One can only hope the girls have a bucket in the boat,in case they should spring a leak. When they return from their great journey to the new land..across the wide open seas..(in this case the nearby creek)..they will have a proper Thanksgiving with all the trimmings.
Mother has done the ham, the turkey is browning in the oven. Hannah's mother has done the dressing and the pies. Molly's mother has done the cakes..and May's mother has done salads and vegetables. There is to be a big feast this year with all the neighbors joining in.
Sue and Hannah are so happy, soon some of the other little girls will be here to play pilgrims.
So we leave our girls..giggling as always, and always inviting you to join their fun. Trust me, listen to their giggles awhile, and they will cast their sweet spell on you..and you too will see little outfits for the girls in all the dainty fabric.

If you would care for a boat ride in the HMS Mayflower, just form a line to the right. Going to the left will put you straight in the creek bed with the giantic, ganoromus catfish that lives in the deepest hole in the creek. Ahhhhh, but thats another story.
This little quilt block was designed and machine appliqued by Do. She has been ever so gracious in sending along the pattern, and I will post it Sunday. This is her orginal design and I just love it.. now,if I can only get it hand appliqued.. :) . I have almost all of November to finish up..for this is the November block.

Aprons and Button Flowers

Isn't this one of the sweetest aprons???? I just love it, even tho it's so simple, or maybe that's why I like it. This will be an easy project with just the basic, embroidery stitch. This will also make a really cute, inexpensive Christmas gift for the cooks on your list. Aprons are definately coming back..and that makes me so happy. I never met an apron I didn't like. Together with an apron, include a hot mitt filled with wooden spoons...then, just add my name to your list. :)

Materials:
Assorted Buttons
Canvas apron with a pocket
Different colors embroidery thread
embroidery needle
fabric marker
Mark the stem placement on the front of the apron using a fabric marker.
Back stitch the stems , starting inside pocket..using embroidery needle with 6 strands of embroidery thread. (This may be too many..use your own judgement as to the number of threads)Stitch buttons to stem ends, working thread from front of button through,and back out to front, leaving ends long enough to tie into tiny bows.

Tussy Mussies

These will be so pretty for the upcoming holidays... and can be made from most anything..From paper to felt to beautiful velvets and Christmas fabrics with stabilizer on the back to stiffen just a bit. It's time to get started with our holiday crafts..so let's us all get busy.
Materials:
Your choice of...
Fabrics with a stabilizer
or felt
or paper
or velvets..
ribbon
hot glue gun or glue pot
potpourri

Shape material of choice into a cone. Glue together at seam..the tip of cone is at the bottom.
Fold sides in at the top..and make two vertical slits in front center 1" from the top of cone and all the way through to the other side. Fill tussy mussy with potpourri and thread evergreen sprig through slits to close. Thread ribbon through top under evergreen sprig and tie into bow. Then hang from doorknobs or drawer pulls... Made in the right size, can also be used as ornaments.

Note:
I have a book of old sheet music and that's what I will be using for my tussy mussies.. tied with sweet ribbon, adding some pearls here and there.. I think I will really like them.

Farm Girls Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah with Pumpkin

Love these two little ones. I'm not sure that Sue is really liking the trim on her sleeve,but it has to do till I can find a pretty red.
I really enjoy applique, and I love Sue more than any pattern, so she is always my choice of most anything to do. The pattern above and abot 6 posts down is the little block for October..
We have a really cute one for November that I will post this Sunday. You will love Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah in this one. Do already has hers done..I will start mine within the next week and hopefully, with work..etc, I can finish in 2 to 3 weeks.
I hope ya'll will join us in our Farm Girls applique, and that you will love the girls as much as we do.

Victorian Shoe Pincushion,Ornament or Card Holder

2 posts down, is the pattern for this pretty stocking. I'm finally getting caught up enough to try my hand at making one..and so the beginnings are posted here. It's very simple, cut the pattern out, embelish and decorate.....and join together on the outside edges. The fun part will be to decide on the various ways to pretty it up with pearls,lace..ribbons..whatever strikes your fancy.
As soon as I finish..I will post a photo of finished stocking.. I hope you make one, or two..or ten.

Sweet Little Kitty

Such a sweet little kitty....to embroidery or to applique...maybe some of each on a sweet little pillow, pillowcase..or a little quilt. I like this little kitty and in honor of my very own grandkitty..I shall name this one Scooter.
I hope you enjoy little pattern...on little instructions,it says to cut 12 of each piece..but that's only if you're choosing to do a little quilt with 12 blocks.

Sunbonnet Sue Angel Cross Stitch Christmas

This sweet little pattern I have just discovered tucked away in a 1984 magazine. There was this pattern along with some smaller Christmas cross stitch..and I just love this pattern. Alas..
I have problems seeing the tiny 22 count cross stitch fabric...I know I can get fabric that I might be able to see better, but it dosen't seem to be as delicate to me. For this sweet pattern, I just might do it anyway. As all of you know, this is my favorite pattern for anything..whether it be a quilt, a painting..a drawing..embroidery..needlecase..and on and on,Sue is just my favorite pattern period.
I've tried to make this pattern as "seeable" as possible. I've tried to press the crease from the old paper,and hopefully you can see the pattern. Click on to enlarge and if that dosen't work..leave me a message, and I will enlarge the pattern more. I hope you enjoy the little pattern...

Victorian Shoe Pincushion,Ornament or Card Holder

Along with boxes,bit and pieces of craft patterns...this was in the stack along with the cone pattern,this one and another beautiful one. It's a heart with a fan pattern on the bottom half..it's really,really pretty. I will post it tomorrow..
I really love these three patterns and can envision a tree done with the three patterns in velvets,ribbons and laces. How gorgeous it would be. One year my tree was done totally in the victorian manner and I loved it.. and I still have plenty of time to do a treefull of these pretties before tree trimmimg time. Hmmmm, will it be velvets,laces and ribbons..or satins.?? Maybe a combination of both with red holly berries scattered about....I need to get busy now....let's see, sewing supplies..laces..ribbons..find the velvet and satin fabric...get together beads and pearls and pearl drops..tassels....get busy CC, get busy.

Snowperson Ornament Sweetie

You will need:
tracing paper,regular scissors ,pinking shears, thread
white felt
black felt
small pieces of quilt batting
1/4" wide ribbon
cord for hanging
black and orange dimensional paint
craft paint with paint writer tip
2 little twigs for arms
craft glue

Trace the pattern...and cut out. Use the disappearing ink marker to trace around one snowperson pattern on the front of a felt square. Don't cut out yet.

Use the disappearing marker to draw the face and heart shaped buttons freehand. Mark where piece will be left open for twig arms.

Use the dimensional paint to add the face, nose is orange.. with nose and mouth black.

For each heart and with black paint ,make 2 side by side dots. Pull down a little paint from each dot to a point... Let dry.

With wrong sides together, and making sure edges are even, lay the painted square on top on the plain square,.. slip a batting square in between and pin together.

Sew together following the outline you've traced., leave open where openings are marked. With your pinking shears,cut out little snowperson just outside the line of stitching.

Fold an 8" length of hanging cord in half to make a hanging loop. Glue the ends of loop to front of snowpweson's head, making sure cord is on top 1/2" of head,so hat will hide the ends.

For the hatband, glue ribbon across front of hat, trimming even. Glue hat to snowperson's head ar a slightly tilted angle..cover ends of hanging cord.

For arms, put a little glue on one end of each twig. Slip the first 1/2" of glued ends into arm openings.

10 Fantastic Sewing Tips

White vinegar dabbed lightly to the crease of stubborn wrinkles will make the creases disappear
when pressed/ironed. Keep vinegar in a small spray bottle near your ironing board and things to be pressed.
2.
Finally !!!! A way to keep your machine foot control in place.....glue a piece of gripper fabric to the bottom of the foot control. (Gripper fabric is the kind used on the bottoms of children's sleepwear.
3.
If at all possible,have your ironing board next to your sewing table and sewing machine.... and if at all possible,have the ironing board the same height as the sewing table. When it's time to press....everything is right there.
4.
When you're hand sewing, rub a fabric softener sheet over the whole length of thread to prevent knotting. Who knew ??? I have to try this..I've always used beeswax..
5.
Have a light duty scrubber near your sewing....for use as a pincushion. It cleans and sharpens pins every time you use it.
6.
When you're sewing snaps in place...sew the top half first. Then,rub a little chalk over the end tip. Press it aganist the other side of your sewing piece to mark where you should sew the bottom half.
7.
If you have a hard time threading your needle, dip the end of thread into clear nail polish. It dries in just a second or two...and leaves the thread stiff for easier threading of your needle.
8.
If your pinking shears are dull, cut through a doubled strip of aluminum foil several times. They will cut much easier.
9.
When you're triming seams, lay your scissors flat as you cut.Your seams will be even because you cut through all the layers at once.
10.
Keep a tape measure handy by taping a 6" length to your sewing machine.

Little Farm Girl Sunbonnet Sue to Embroidery or Applique

Again, we have our favorite little one, sweet little farm girl, Sunbonnet Sue. She is always such a delight to me, no matter the field..whether it be a pillowslip, a dish towel..a potholder..maybe on a quilt, done in applique or maybe worked into a block the foundation method.
I would love doing a little quilt with Sue and alternating blocks of either a log cabin or rail fence. I also love the Dresden Plate and the ever so gorgeous fan quilts. My little dream quilt would be done in the softest shades and patterns in pinks, cremes and sage greens... and of course,it would have lace and ribbons and bows. Now I just have to stop dreaming and get started on one.
This little pattern can either be enlarged and used for applique..or printed off, and with the aid of a red transfer pen....drawn off and ironed onto an embroidery project. As the weather starts to turn cooler, I am gathering all my embroidery supplies and pretty threads, projects with the pattern ironed on....getting them all in order for cooler rainy,dreary days. I love to embroidery then..so I will be all set.
I hope you like the little pattern and can use it...

Tiny Yellow Faerie,Lysia

Sweet little faerie, Lysia...all dressed in yellow has come to brighten a drab,rainy autumn day. She's a tiny spot of sunshine and to look at her makes me smile. She loves to play in the ivy and the soft pretty flowers..and she's usually as she is now,...wearing some ivy tendrils.
She's one of the most tiny faeries and the older one all look out for the small ones. They are allowing her to send hugs and blow kisses to you all, and they hope she brings some sunlight to you..

Christmas Cone Sachet or Ornament

I got this pattern and instructions from Jana... She was nice enough to share..and I can't wait to make some for my tree. I'm gonna use velvets..satins, laces and ribbons...with a filling of sweet potpourri.....hmmmm,or maybe ginghams and frilly lace.
I will post one just as soon as I can... I hope you enjoy little pattern and can use it. Let me know if you like it. She and I scanned in two more patterns and I will post those soon.

Quilted Cone Sachet or Ornament
Materials:
Scraps of fabric and batting
Lace
Double fold bias tape..(optional)
Finished Size:
Small: 4 1/2" in height
Large: 6" in height
Steps:
1.
Cut out fabric and batting as shown on pattern
2.
For the quilted cone, lay out the fabric and batting. Quilt across the batting. Press and trim excess fabric
3.
With lace, stitch across the upper edge, and have the raw edges even
4.
With right sides together and the lace tucked inside, pin the backing to the quilted batting and sew a 1/4" seam across the upper edge.
5.
Clip edges, turn and steam press
6.
With right sides together, sew a 1/4" side seam. Turn
7.
Top stitch 1/4" from the upper edge of cone
8.
For the large cone, edge stitch a 10" piece of double folded fabric strip or bias tape. For the small cone,use a 6" piece.
9. Stitch this strip to the inside of the cone to form a handle..

This is a little Sunbonnet Sue or Hannah dress up tea party hat. Suri the mouse and Oscar the flying pig wanted me to take the photo with the hat laying atop lace. I'm not sure how well the little hat pincushion can be seen,but I sure had fun making it. Now,I can't wait to use it..I have some very pretty pins..and also some with pearl tops..so the dainty look of the hat will be kept intact.

Farm Girls Sunbonnet Sue Needlecase and Hannah Block

And here we have the sweetest little ones..Sunbonnet Sue and her sweet friend Hannah. The girls have quite a day planned, for their mothers,along with more ladies, are gathering together to have a quilting bee. There is much excitement, for while the ladies are quilting and talking, the little ones can enjoy playing together.
Annnnnd, at lunch..well!!!!!!, can you believe all the wonderful food. Hannah's mother has brought macaroni and cheese and fried chicken, there is meatloaf, and smothered steak..mashed potatoes,candied sweet potatoes, green beans..and the list goes on.....and then..there is the dessert table. Sue's mother has made the 3 layer coconut cake she is famous for and Molly's mother has made a butter cake, which so happens to be Hannah's favorite.
But, for now..off the girls go to play. They have all brought their baby dolls and there are scraps of fabric for the girls to make believe quilt along. They've decided all their babies need new clothes and tiny quilts, and their mothers have promised to make some..but first, must come the quilt.
I hope you like little Sue and the way she's dressed. She loves being dressed up with ribbons and lace..and this small Sue has another purpose. Her underskirt is also a needlecase/pinholder and her bonnet is a tiny pincushion.

Here we have little Farm Girl Hannah..coming to visit her dearest,bestest friend..Sunbonnet Sue. Ohhhhh, it's going to be so much fun....Little Hannah may become part of a quilt top..or perhaps a tiny pillow. Whatever is decided, she is happy with all her pink flowers.

Farm Girls Sunbonnet Sue and Hannah with Pumpkin

This is the Sue pattern with the markings for applique. The shoes are numbers 1,2,3,and 4... and go down first..then follow the numbers to set each piece in place. I mark the center of my pattern,the center of the background piece..and begin laying out and arranging my pattern pieces...then appliquing them down. This is the manner that works best for me..if you have another way that works for you..please,leave a comment and share with us. I would love to hear from you.
This is our October BOM.
If you remember, I was to make the block, post it and then post the pattern. Well, as you can see..that's not how it's happened. I wasn't counting on being ill, in hospital for 9 days and then the usual things that always come up. *sighs deeply here. I did get the block partially finished..with only one little one, however it just doesn't look right. I need to step back, take a deep breath..and begin again.
So,with no further ado, and no more excuses.... I offer you the October block. The little ones fit on a 12" block.....
Aren't they cute..peering into the pumpkin. Is is a Halloween Trick or Treat pumpkin ???, is it a regular pumpkin that's been hollowed out and carved to hold a candle????? Our girls, Sunbonnet Sue and her dearest friend Hannah seem awfully interested. I wonder..will the girls go trick or treating???? Will they have a Halloween party with all their little friends ????

Sweet Sunbonnet Sue Goes To Market

Here we find our sweet Sue getting ready for the market.. Mother needs quite a few things and it's been decided that little Sue can go to the store all by herself. However, Sue wants her friend May to come along with her..so they will meet at the corner. Sue has dresses in one of her cutest outfits for the trip..she feels quite like a big girl going to the store alone.
"Let's see" she says.."what all Mother has on her list". She checks with Mother to make sure she can tell what all to get, and then starts for the door. Then she hears Mother singing...
"Sweet little Sue..where are your shoes??? Did you forget them??". Sue giggles, she always goes barefoot and has forgotten that for the trip to store, she will need shoes. She finishes dressing..and out the door she hurries. She knows that when she returns with the sugar, Mother will make her wonderful 3 layer coconut cake. It's one of her favorites and she just can't wait.........
* Note: This sweet little Sue was done by Do as a starter block for the baby Sue quilt. This is one of the blocks she decided aginst using. I thought it was so cute, I just had to show and share it.

A tiny sweet faerie living in the magic secret garden of Sunbonnet Sue and all her little friends.
Her name is Emilie Kathleen and she helps with the garden chores. She gets a lot done with that tiny magic wand..but still, she like to get her little hands messy by digging in the dirt. One of her favorite things to do is play with the girls,when they are playing house and play cooking. She really likes to make mud pies. :). Her little home is under the leaves of the sweet smelling hyacinth plant. Her favorite is the white one, but she likes the purple one as well.
Emilie has also been commissioned to help me (CC) with a new project. It's to be a Sunbonnet Sue and friends quilt Block of the Month, for a newly designed Sunbonnet Sue and friends quilt. I will do a block of the month square..then publish the pattern..and then continue on with the next Block of the Month. This will be a combined project of Do and myself and I can hardly wait to get started.

She loves to play dolls, play house and she makes wonderful mud pies. She also loves to help her granny in the garden....and she loves to watch her granny do needlework. For as granny works her magic with her needle, she talks with Sarah.... telling about the old ways and teaching little Sarah the finer needlearts.

In the Garden and In the Country

On our walk through..we see...
Another gorgeous flower...isn't it wonderful growing in the garden and out in the wild? And of course, some are growing near the little pond and over yonder by the creek. Oooo, there is so much to see and enjoy in the garden and in the country. Isn't it all just beautiful and wonderful??

A small succulent, a rosette. Now you hafta know, that some tiny friends find shelter here with little rosette.
Here we find a lawn nemisis...our friend the dandylion. Look at those large green leaves. I think perhaps sometime, little faeries and elves take shelter with them as well.
And another favorite. Perhaps a home or safe shelter for a sweet faerie or an elf. I love the shapes and colors of our pretty mushrooms. I have a feeling when I do mine, they will be in red.
Here we find a little friend..a small squirrel that has found quite a treat. It's a small branch of acorns..and out little furry friend is contemplating how best to get it home. Perhaps a friend will help him.

Ahhhhhhh, what do we have here growing ????? It's chrysanthemums . They're gorgeous in all their wonderful colors. There are golds, yellows..pinks and reds, rusts..and on and on. All the colors you can think of..these flowers can be that shade or hue.
One of my favorites around water is cattails. I think they're gorgeous with their shades of browns and tans aganist the greens of the stems.... Butterflies, dragonflies live among the reeds and cattails...and so do tiny frogs and bif frogs and turtles, and, and....

Look at this..a sweet little pond. Wonder what lives here. Hmmmmm, a butterfly and of course a dragonfly..and let's see what else we can see. Oooooo, look, there are tiny minnows and tadpoles swimming about. And just there was a little frog on his lily pad, he must be shy, cause back in the water he went. Look at all the water flowers..I just love them with their shades of pinks and cremes and pale yellows. They're just beautiful.

Some Sewing Tips

Apparently, I cut this out of a magazine somewhere.... from it's condition, it's been awhile. However, I think these few tips might still help some of us.

1. For a no-cost light box used for tracing, place a lamp under a clear glass top.

2. Always press your fabrics after washing and before cutting. Wrinkles will make your cutting lines inaccurate.

3. The paper backing on iron-on adhesive will peel away easily if you allow it to cool completely.

4. Use the ironing boared as your work surface when arranging fused applique pieces onto your center block. Since you won't have to move the block to your ironing board, the pieces will stay arranged and ready for fusing.

5. A straight pin or tweezers can help position smaller applique pieces....

6. Thread several needles with embroidery floss or quilting thread for your hand stitching. No need to stop and rethread your needle.

7. Use "between" nnedles for hand quilting. The larger the needle number, the smaller the needle. A size 10 needle is good for hand quilting.

8. To hide a know when hand quilting...Insert the needle through the quilt top. Pull the thread till the knot rests on top of the fabric. gently tug the thread to pop the knot through the fabric.The knot will now be hidden in the batting.

9. If machine quilting, use clear thread in the top and regular thread in the bobbin. Clear nylon thread works well for light-colored fabrics; use smoke thread for darker fabrics.

10. A walking foot, sometimes called an even-feed foot, helps your sewing machine keep all quilt layers even when machine quilting.

Oooo, I just had to share. I went shopping today and came across some gorgeous fabric. Okay..I think all fabric is gorgeous, but this really is. This just has a Sunbonnet Sue dress written all over it.. So..getting out Sue patterns..well, after getting them all out, trying to decide which Sue I will make..or will it be a dress for Hannah? hmmmmm *sighs. Do you people know how many Sue patterns I have?? I haven't a clue either. Have never tried counting them..however..get ready. CC is gonna do a Sue block and keep on..1 block at a time till I have enough to make something. Course, Do will probably faint if I actually make blocks..any block, even 1 block. Well !! Has she got a surprise coming....

Farm Girl Sue and Laundry Day

Here we find our girl Sunbonnet Sue helping out with chores. As we all know, Sue, Hannah, May,Molly, and Sarah are such great little helpers. They're always ready to help their mothers, their grannies or any one of the elders in their little community. When it's laundry day, Mother always sets out a tiny tub for Sue so she can do all her baby doll's laundry.Since she has quite a few doll babies, most times there is that laundry to be done. Then there is the ironing after. Seems that a girl's work is never done.
However, on the bright side...Grannie and Auntie have come to spend the day and will help out. And that means......tea cakes. Wonderful tea cakes. Scrumptious tea cakes. Sue's favorite tea cakes. Did I mention that Sue likes tea cakes ? :) . With lots of good home churned butter.
And icy cold milk. Yummmmmmm. And Sue always enjoys when grannie comes to visit. for when the day is almost all done,and she's had her bath..grannie helps her into her nightie, helps her brush her hair....and then gets Sues newest story book. Sue climbs onto her lap, and grannie begins to slowly rock and to read the story. This time, Sue is determined to stay awake till the end of the story...... grannie just smiles and rocks slowly, cause she knows there's a tired little girl on her lap.... She looks down, and guess who is asleep. Our girl has had a long day..and since grannie and auntie have decided to stay a week, there's plenty of time to read the story later on....
We say good night to Sue..sleep well....don't let the lady bugs bite..:)

Do's Beautiful Angel

This is one of Do's original designs..and I think one of the most beautiful. Perhaps it's the delicate embroidery she does, the colors she chose..or perhaps..just maybe, it reminds me of what our sweet Sunbonnet Sue would look like in a Christmas pageant at her little one room school house. Do has an eye for color combinations that I've not been able to match.. but she helps me along and is always so forthcoming in her praise and her gentle ways to show me how to do it better. Than you Do, for being both my friend and mentor.
I hope you all love this sweet little one as much as I do...and I think she belongs on pillowcases.. maybe a table runner. What colors will you choose..and what will you put her on????
She will soon begin to put some of her favorite and original patterns up for sale. I can't wait to see all she comes up with...

This is one of the latest of Do's quilts..and I thing is one of the prettiest. It reminds me so of stained glass ... the colors so rich and vibrant.
I'm sure this one will travel about as all her other original designs do..specially the Sampler and the Baby Sunbonnet Sue. Do is a fabulous designer, both of quilts and patterns. She sometimes teases and scolds me for being lazy and not getting on with projects, both quilting and other crafts. I try to tell her how busy I am, but she says"Listen here, you lazy,lazy woman"... :) . Her work is pretty enough to make up for my lazyiness I hope.. :).

Do is so truly talented..she has taught me so much about quilting, design, color and applique.. aand most important, she is always there to offer encouragement. Do is in England..and I am in Texas..and we may never meet in person, however, most days we do our voice chat over messenger as we've done for the past two years. There is one more project that I will save for another day..another project of Do's. I can't wait for you to see it....

The last time I knitted was when I was thirteen during my home economics class.

Wow am glad that I managed to remember how to knit with the help of the book. I hated the colour of this wool but I found it in my storeroom...lol. The wool was a leftover from my son's project. I think I will have to add some colourful beads at the end of the shawl when I finished. Actually, I am not sure what I am going to knit this into...hahaha

CC will be very proud of me with my knitting. She is always there encouraging me to try out knitting or crocheting. Thank you CC. :)

When I am successful with this knitting project, I will buy more wools that are not yellow in colour...hehehe.....wish me luck.

Starting with Percy the pig..here are some small designs to play with. They can be embroidered on childrens clothes, aprons and apron pockets, on needlecases..etc...
And...they can also be woodburned on any wooden piece. I've done woodburning on pizza peels, spoons, trays and cutting boards..anything wood that you like, can be woodburned. It's simple to transfer your design to wood.. and you're all set to go. It's been a long time since I've done this craft..but the pieces are so pretty. When the woodburning is done..color in your designs with colored pencils designed for that purpose..then seal the wood.
